MetaClean is built so we never see your files. This page explains, in plain words, the little data we do handle and why.

The short version

Your photos and videos are processed on your own Mac or PC. They are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
The app sends only a licence check: your serial key and a random installation ID. Nothing about your files.
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers.
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
We don’t sell or share your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Who we are

MetaClean is made by SC LEX GLOBAL IT SRL (CUI 39743639, Reg. Com. J2018000908068), Romania, which is responsible for the data described here (the “data controller”). Contact: lex.media@gmail.com or the contact page.

1. Your photos and videos

MetaClean inspects and cleans files entirely on your device. The files, their contents and their metadata are never sent to us, never stored by us, and never pass through any server of ours. The app’s metadata tools run with remote lookups switched off, so reading a file’s Content Credentials doesn’t contact the internet either.

2. The licence check

To start the free trial and to confirm a paid licence, the app contacts our licence service. It sends:

Your serial key (once you have one). We store only a one-way hash of it.
A random installation ID created by the app. It identifies one installation for the trial and for activation limits. It is not linked to your name, your computer’s hardware or your files.

Like any web server, the licence service briefly sees your IP address to answer the request and to limit abuse. The app refreshes its licence now and then when you’re online, and keeps working offline in between. The app contains no analytics or tracking.

3. Buying a licence

Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects the payment details you enter; we never receive or store your card number. From Stripe we receive your name, email address, country and the payment status, so we can send your licence key, provide support and keep the records the law requires (such as invoices and tax records).

4. This website

metacleanai.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Fonts and images are served from our own server, so visiting doesn’t contact Google or anyone else. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, date, the page requested and your browser’s user agent) for up to 14 days, for security and to fix problems.

5. Contacting us

If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and your message. We use them only to reply to you, and keep the conversation for as long as needed to help you and handle your licence.

6. Who can see your data

Only us, and the services we need to run MetaClean: Stripe for payments, our hosting provider for the licence service and this website, and our email provider for replies. We don’t sell your data or share it with advertisers.

7. How long we keep it

Licence records (hashed key, installation IDs): for as long as the licence exists.
Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Messages to us: as long as needed to help you.
Web server logs: up to 14 days.

8. Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. If you live in the EU, UK or a similar jurisdiction, you also have the right to data portability and to complain to your local data protection authority. To use any of these rights, contact us. Deleting your licence records will deactivate your licence.

9. Children

MetaClean is not directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll say so on the website.
