How do I remove metadata from a photo or video?
Drop it into MetaClean, choose Privacy clean or All removable, and save the clean copy. It works on JPG, PNG, MP4 and MOV, one file or a whole folder, and your original stays untouched.
Why does my real photo or video say “AI info” on Instagram?
Because a tool you used wrote a note inside the file. Photoshop Generative Fill, Lightroom's AI Remove, Premiere Pro's Generative Extend, Google Magic Editor, Samsung Galaxy AI and similar features add Content Credentials (C2PA) or an IPTC “AI” source tag, even for a tiny edit. Does it change my original file?
Never. MetaClean cleans a copy, inspects that copy again, and only saves it after the checks pass. Batch results are saved next to the originals with a clean_ prefix, and nothing is ever overwritten.
Will it reduce quality?
No. It removes metadata, it does not re-encode. The app checks that image pixels and video and audio streams are unchanged after cleaning.
Will platforms still see my photo or video as AI?
MetaClean removes the metadata the platforms read. So nothing in your file's metadata will say "AI altered", "AI generated" or anything like it to any platform.
Does Watch Folders clean files automatically?
It inspects automatically and lets you decide. When a new export carries Content Credentials or AI-origin metadata, a quick prompt asks you to Clean or Skip, so nothing changes without your say.
Does MetaClean need to stay open to watch folders?
Keep it running in the background. The window’s close button minimizes MetaClean and watching carries on; choose Quit when you want it to stop.
What happens to files already in a watched folder?
They stay quiet. Watch Folders checks what you add or change from then on. To clean a collection you already have, drop the folder into Batch folder and it’s done in one go.
Is Watch Folders a Premiere Pro or Photoshop plugin?
No plugin needed. MetaClean watches the folders your apps export into, so it works with Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom and any other app that saves JPG, PNG, MP4 or MOV files there.
