Why does my real photo say "AI info" on Instagram?
Because a tool you used wrote a note inside the file. Photoshop Generative Fill, Lightroom's AI Remove, Google Magic Editor, Samsung Galaxy AI and similar features add Content Credentials (C2PA) or an IPTC "AI" source tag, even for a tiny edit. Instagram, Facebook and Threads read that note and show "AI info". MetaClean shows you the note and removes it from a copy of your file.
Does MetaClean upload my photos or videos?
No. Everything happens on your Mac or PC. There is no cloud, no upload and no account. The only thing MetaClean sends over the internet is a licence check.
Which files does it work with?
JPG, PNG, MP4 and MOV. You can clean one file or scan a whole folder, including subfolders.
Does it change my original file?
Never. MetaClean cleans a copy, inspects that copy again, and only saves it after the checks pass. Batch results are saved next to the originals with a clean_ prefix, and nothing is ever overwritten.
Will it reduce quality?
No. It removes metadata, it does not re-encode. The app checks that image pixels and video and audio streams are unchanged after cleaning.
Will platforms still see my photo as AI?
MetaClean removes the metadata the platforms read. So nothing in your file's metadata will say "AI altered", "AI generated" or anything like it to any platform.
